DIDJA KNOW?

This is a 7-page story that appeared in TV Action #122, June 16, 1973.

Technodelic suspects that this story gained its title from the popular childrens series Record Breakers, which ran 1972-2001, about British and worldwide sports and athletes.

DIDJA NOTICE?

The new Supasports Centre is said to be located in the Netherdale Valley of England's Lake District. The Lake District is a national park of England, established in 1951, and does contain a region occasionally known as the Netherdale Valley. The Supasports Centre appears to be a ficitious institution.

On page 1 of the story, Peter Sharpe runs to the top of Haw Gable. This appears to be a fictitious gable in the Lake District.

Suspicious of Peter Sharpe's death, Straker tells Foster to meet him at the Shadoport to catch a flight to the Netherdale to investigate. This is the first use of the term "Shadoport", but it must reference the airfield seen in use in by SHADO in various episodes of the TV series.

On page 3 of the story, the two aliens appears as if they may be in communication telepathically with each other.

On page 4 of the story, Straker takes his Mobile into the lake, utilizing its capability to run on the water.

On page 6 of the story, Kidd's car is depicted with the steering wheel on the right-hand side of the vehicle (as is normal in England), but the TV series established that most automobiles in England in the 1980s of the UFO universe are driven from the left seat instead, as in the U.S.

Straker and Foster tail Kidd's car as he drives off to warn the aliens of SHADO's evacuation of the sports center. But it seems kind of dumb of them to follow in a SHADO Mobile...not exactly inconspicuous, and Kidd soon sees that he's being tailed!

On page 6 of the story, the aliens are seen pulling their hidden UFO from a cave using just their own strength and some rope! The aliens have not been depicted as particularly super-strong in the past. Technodelic speculates, perhaps jokingly, that this pair were participating in Kidd's "supasports" program! It's possible that the human bodies hosting this alien pair were former participants in Kidd's program.
